Would it be possible to transfer to a different school after my first semester. I go to university at buffalo and would want to transfer to hunter college.

It is certainly possible - just make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. The first semester at college can be very difficult with new expectations, living arrangements, people, classes, responsibilities. It can take some time to adjust. My S transferred after one semester because of factors that were beyond his control - academics were not at all challenging, internet was far too slow (he couldn’t even watch a youtube video or upload his homework and he was a comp. sci. major), and the campus turned out to be too isolated for him. So he transferred to a school with much better academics, internet system, and located in a city and he is the happiest I have seen him in a long time!

You would need to check with Hunter College to find out how they handle transfers. You may or may not lose some credits in the process.

Also, watch out for logistical issues. You probably won’t be able to get a SUNY Buffalo transcript until January, right in the heart of of Fall 2010 application season. So you’ll want to make sure Hunter knows the Transfer Application is coming and that Hunter is committed to getting you an answer by mid-January. If the Freshman Seminar is mandatory you may have some adjustments there as well. I’m sure it’s doable, but the timing is certainly awkward.
