Transferring after one year?

I'm an average student. (Although at my poorly rated high school, the following would be considered above average.)

A's and B's on transcript.
25 ACT score.
3.6 unweighted/ 3.8 weighted GPA.
My best subject is English.
Extracurriculars: Key Club (2 years), Student Council (1 year), Band (1 year), ROTC (2 years), Took summer classes at a university.
Volunteering: Only about 10 hours. Car washes, Volunteering at the park for children's events, Volunteering at the zoo.

It's my fault that I just realized that I don't just want to leave state (I live in Louisiana), I must know what else is out there! But the deadlines for most universities have passed. Once again, my fault.

My question: What OOS universities will accept me with my credentials, after I complete a year at a university in my state?

What do you want to study? What area of the Country do you want to go to?

Keep in mind that if you need financial aid it would be better to take a year off and apply to colleges as a freshman.

I plan to study nursing or business. I’d like to go to the northeast because I have family there. Second choice would be the west coast.

and I don’t think my parents would be happy with me just being at home and not doing anything for an entire year. Maybe a semester though.

Why would you be doing nothing? You can work, volunteer, etc.

Not all colleges take entering fr (or transfers) in the spring.

As far as OOS schools, are you willing and able to pay full fare for an OOS public? Do you qualify/need for FA at privates?

The problem with applying for a soph transfer is that when you apply, schools will only see 1 sem of college work and therefore will weight your HS record and test scores more heavily.
