Transferring after previously being accepted

Last spring, I was lucky enough to get into schools like UCLA, Berkeley, USC, NYU, UNC and Cornell. It ultimately came down to UNC and Cornell and on literally May 1st I chose Cornell. I have since realized that UNC was a better fit for me and would do anything to go back to last spring and switch my decision.

I’m planning on applying as a transfer student to UNC and am wondering if it would be a good idea to use the same supplement I wrote for UNC last year since it got me in the first time. Does anyone know if it’s frowned upon to recycle essays like that?

I have no idea.

If you are like most freshman, you are not the same person you were a year and half ago when you wrote the essay. I am sure your perspective has changed and you have had personal growth. Also, you could be a better writer now. I would consider rewriting the essay to reflect this and also mention why you now consider UNC a better fit. Also consider that what they look for in the transfer essay is probably different than the freshman essays.
