Transferring After Waitlist/Denial

I was deferred during early action and then put on waitlist this past round of freshman admissions; it seems bleak right now.
I was wondering if Tech considered my results for this round if I apply for a transfer in the future?

Being put on the wait-list means admissions thought you were qualified and they just didn’t have a spot for you after accepting others they deemed to be slightly more attractive candidates this cycle. Transfer admission is a completely separate process and would be based on your college level performance and the space the institute has available in the major you apply for. The SAT scores, high school grades, high school involvement, and essays that earned you a spot on the wait-list will not be considered for transfer admissions.

Generally successful transfer candidates come to Tech with about two years of coursework (~60 hours) and on average have a 3.7 cumulative GPA and 3.6 math & science GPA, but figures will vary by major and year. If you are in-state and can achieve a strong GPA while meeting the mandatory course requirements for transfer applicants in your chosen major, your transfer chances will be strong. Transfer admissions, like undergraduate admissions, is holistic, so admissions will also look at your transfer essays and involvement in college. Admissions notes that successful transfer applicants are typically involved in 3-5 activities in a meaningful way, which can include campus involvement, research, work, family responsibilities, etc… Just focus on performing well and making a contribution while at your college or university and then if you still want to come to Tech in a year or two, you’ll liking have that option.
