Transferring and Legacy

I am applying to transfer as a junior for Fall 2016. My mother received degrees from Barnard and Columbia Engineering. I was waitlisted as a freshman applicant two years ago. Since transfer admissions is only regular decision, how much, if at all, does legacy benefit my transfer application (assuming strong recommendations, grades, community involvement, etc)?

It should be definitely helpful (as much as with Early Decision if that’s what you’re wondering), but in any case, this would be a moderate effect only at Columbia. Also your mother would need to have gotten her BS at Columbia Engineering to be actually considered as legacy for Columbia. (rather than BA at Barnard and then graduate degree at SEAS).

yeah, graduate degree is not consider
as legacy in all colleges.
