I'm currently a sophomore transferring to Texas Tech from another university. I decided to get a 4 bedroom apartment in a student housing complex and doing roommate matching because I don't know anyone. I decided not to live in the dorms because I already had the experience at my previous college and living on campus is a lot more expensive. I already signed my lease but I've been thinking about it and I really wish I would have lived on campus because I feel like I won't make any friends and I will be missing out in the college experience. How can I make friends living off campus?

Oh I wouldn’t worry at all. You even say you are in a student housing complex so you will meet people that way and everyone is in the same boat. Saving the money can make a lot of sense. Also you will likely meet friends in class and you can participate in extracurricular activities. You might make a friend that you stay over with one night if you do something on campus that goes late.

I’m also transferring to another university next year and I’m trying to decide whether to go on campus or off.
I think that off campus is fine though. You will have a roomate to be friends with and he/she can introduce you to his/her friends. You could also join clubs and groups at your school and meet like minded people.
Some school also have activities specifically designed for transfer students. You could participate and meet other transfer students there.
