Transferring and Transcript problems

After High School I attended a local 4 year university, and stayed for two semesters. The first semester I did below average, and the second I hit a really bad spell of depression and left the school without withdrawing after a few weeks. I decided to attend a local community college and get a fresh start. When I applied to the college, some people told me to not send my transcript to the Community College, since I was just going to retake it all anyways. I was happy to oblige.

Fast forward a semester later and I'm freaking out. I'm looking online and it says that you can get into major trouble for not sending all of your transcripts to the new college. This was an honest mistake that I did not think mattered, but now I'm afraid that when it comes time to transfer to another university, the CC will see that I'm sending a transcript from the old university to the new one. What should I do? Should I let them know now, and tell them that it was an honest mistake, or will they kick me out?

Many CCs will allow you to take one or two classes without presenting your previous college transcripts, but once you become a degree candidate there you are obligated to provide them. Others require transcript copies up front. Take a look at your CC’s application forms and see what their paperwork says about previous studies. Then, make an appointment with the admissions office and ask them to help you sort this out now.

And when you do transfer to the next place, be sure to send copies from both institutions.
