Okay this may already be posted (sorry), but the search doesn't work for me very well..

I'm planning on transferring out for next fall, and I got quite a bit of my credits exempted and placed in higher level classes because of my AP credits. There were a few courses however where I was exempted from them for getting a 3 on the AP test (I'm at a big state public school that accepts anything with a 3 or above). My question is, when I try to transfer, will I have to retake those classes at the other university, since the schools I want to apply to are more selective, more rigorous, and don't accept 3's for any AP credit. Or will they just leave me exempted from the classes I would have taken for those AP tests where I got 3's? Sorry this is very confusing. I'm having trouble explaining it lol.

Don’t even mention it to them. They most likely won’t even ask you. If they do (and don’t mention it to them first) and you scored well in the classes you placed in, then they have no reason to think you did not deserve the credit.

Generally speaking, if Course A is a pre-req. for Course B, and you have been exempted from Course A for whatever reason (AP credits, your HS transcript, the professor likes you, etc.) and you have done well in Course B you don’t need to go back and take Course A. However, each college/university sets its own policy about AP credits (and other credits by exam such as CLEP and IB) just like each of them has its own policies on accepting transfer credits from other colleges and universities. This means that you need to discuss this directly with each institution that you are applying to.
