transferring as freshman?

I haven't even picked what college I will be attending yet but I know that I am not smitten with my choices. I was not accepted to my dream school and I still have to hear back from UMich. But all in all... I am already considering going to a school for freshman year and transferring ASAP. But... I am starting to wonder if it is going to be possible. I am a mediocre high school student (3.2 junior year that has increased to a 3.4/.5 i think) with mediocre test scores (1970 SAT). But I do really well in classes modeled to be like a college course, so I am planning on working my butt off. I want to prove to myself I can get into a really great school. I think I am going to attend American U or Emerson College and then see where I can go.

My question is... what is it going to take? Will I be able to accomplish this in just my freshman year of college?

and hopefully i will proofread my new round of apps… not like the title of this thread haha

What part of Brooklyn are you from? I live in Coney Island.

If you read the Transfer information on college websites, you’ll see that applications are usually due in Feb/Mar. That means that as a soph transfer, most weight will given to your HS record since you will only have completed 1 semester of college when you apply.

Of course it’s okay to transfer, but it is not a great attitude to start college with, meaning that you are very unlikely to be happy and live up to your potential in your freshmen year.
And transfering early basically mean that colleges will weigh your HS record more than what you did in college, so better find out why you did not get into your dream school.
