Transferring as H-4 dependent international student. Need financial help.

Everything you are saying is fine. But have a good plan B. You seem to think there simply cannot be a plan B because you are set on this.

Has your dad considered the cost of losing reduced tuition in his decision to take a job outside acedemia? If not, then I fear you may be stuck.

Yes, Washington University didnt have good enough financial package for me. I live in Georgia. They do offer Hope scholarship for the instate (which pays for 90 percent of the tuition) but I dont think I will be getting my green card by the time I would transfer. And no, I am not interested in University of Washington.

So you have the HOPE scholarship and didn’t take it, or did you? If you did, you need to stay instate. Amherst is not in your wheel house.

I don’t think he can take it (yet), as a non-citizen/permanent resident.

Wash U St. Louis pledges to meet the full need of all accepted students. The school is pretty generous.

If you didn’t get enough need based aid THERE, what makes you think you will get enough need based aid at any of the other colleges you have mentioned?

Financial aid is based on the following premise:

Cost of attendance (tuition, room/board, fees, books- misc expenses) - EFC (Based on income assets of parents + student contribution) = Demonstrated need.

WUSTL, meets 100% demonstrated need.

If you feel the financial aid package was not affordable to your family, this is more of a function of your family’s EFC, which your family will have to pay regardless of where you attend school. This is not an unusual situation as there are many families, who do not commit to a school, because they find their EFC to be unaffordable.

I cant get Hope as an international student. If I was qualified for Hope or zell miller, I wouldnt have had this problem.
