Transferring...Back to Fordham

So I completed my freshmen year at Fordham LC and transferred to NYU-Stern. I completed my sophomore year there and now my parents decided to no longer pay for NYU and I can't afford that. I basically was going to Fordham for free (scholarship and aid) and now I feel it's my best option to try to get back to Fordham. I had a 3.9 at Fordham before I transferred and while at NYU I had a 3.3 (then again this was Stern so please keep that in mind). What are my chances of an easy transfer?

I’m sorry that things didn’t work out for you at NYU the way you planned…I remember when you transferred. I’m sure you’ll have no problem transferring back into to Fordham but you should have a back up plan just in case the FA package doesn’t come through. People have consistently said that transfers just don’t get the $$ that incoming freshman get. Housing might also be an issue although it is likely a little easier if you are looking to transfer to Gabelli as opposed to LC. But you probably already know all of this.

It’s a little surprising that you are considering coming back to begin with bc you weren’t happy at LC and your experience coming back in as a Junior isn’t likely to be all that different. The things you liked about Fordham will still be there but the things you didn’t will to! I guess if you transfer to Gabelli, it would be a slightly new and different experience for you though. But you didn’t say where you were looking to transfer so…

Good luck! Hope it all works out for you! :)

While I am no expert on the transfer process, from what I understand sandkmom has a good point. Assuming Fordham has space (it seems late to apply for this fall but, again, I don’t know the process), I would think that Fordham take you back. But the aid you received as a freshman has likely be used to help another student so you may not get the same package you received as a freshman. I would call the financial aid office soon to talk to them about your situation. Also look at the core courses you may have to still complete to be sure you can graduate on time. And if you want to continue in business, you should consider Gabelli at RH rather than return to LC. On campus housing may be hard to get at this point, even at RH. Sorry it didn’t work out at NYU. Unfortunately finances end up being part of the college equation.
