The experiences I have seen at CMU tell me that transferring between schools is easy as long as you have the grades and show that you can do the work. So if you are in one school and have plans to transfer to another, you should look up the schedules of kids who are in the desired school and replicate them as near as possible. CMU is generous about letting anyone take the entry level computer, engineering, science, business classes so it should not be a problem. Getting the grades in some of these disciplines is a whole other story. There is a heck of a lot of transferring OUT of some of these tough majors as well, so there is room for someone who can hack it. The exception to all of this is the College of Fine Arts. The performing arts division in particular is closed to students not in the program with the exception of a few offerings that are made available to students in the other colleges. In order to transfer into that College, you must audition, go through the same process as outside transfers.
