Transferring between UPenn colleges

Hey guys. I applied to the College of Letters and Sciences or whatever, because I didn't really have my mind made up on what I wanted to study. After doing more research I became interested in the Huntsman Program. So I'm wondering, is it possible to transfer from one college to another within the school itself? I mean, the chances of me actually getting in are slim to none, but I am still curious. Thanks.

It IS possible to transfer from one undergraduate school within Penn to another (e.g., from the College of ARTS and Sciences  to Wharton), but there are fairly stringent requirements for that–especially into Wharton (it’s generally easier to transfer the opposite way). It is NOT possible to enter the Huntsman Program once you’re a student at Penn, but you COULD put together a somewhat similar dual degree program (i.e., degrees from both the College and Wharton) on your own, though without some aspects of the Huntsman Program. As a student in the College, pursuing dual degrees with Wharton is basically the same as transferring into Wharton (i.e., you must go through the same selective process). However, it should be noted that hundreds of graduating Penn undergrads earn individualized dual degrees (i.e., not part of a formal dual degree program) every year.

I don’t think you can major in International Relations (reserved for Huntsman), correct me if I’m wrong. However you can always pick up a second degree at the end of freshman year if you’re still interested.

OK, you’re wrong. International Relations is a regular major available to all students in the College:

Only Huntsman students can major in international studies. IR is a different major that Huntsman students do not get.
