Hi,
I got recruited to play soccer at a mid sized D1 school. Over the past year, I have discovered a new passion and talent for track. As a senior in high school it is too late for me to get recruited to do track. Is it attainable to play soccer my freshmen year and then transfer and run track at a different school my sophomore year? Is this a possibility? Thanks for any input.
You mention transferrring after your Freshman year. I hope you chose a school you would be happy with without soccor, hate to hear someone talking about transferring before they even get there. Why not try to do both or change to Track at the school you are planning to attend.
As a HS Sr its not too late but you are behind the curve. Most schools signed their recruits during the early signing period based on times they ran as Juniors. Run this Winter and Spring and then compare your marks with what it takes to score points in your college’s conference meets. If you are able to score points you have something to work with.
Track is a sport that often compliments other sports. Plenty of D1 football players run Track in college, I imagine Soccor could be similar.
You need to check the NCAA rules about switching. Once you start at a school, you may have a 1 year waiting period before you can play at another school.
Play soccer this fall and then start talking to the Track Coach about running as well when you are there.
