Alright so this past year I attended a four year university and realized it was not right for me, this coming school year I am attending my local community college and hope to transfer to a different university once I finish my general ed. Unfortunately I have a 2.57 cumulative GPA at the moment, I was wondering if this GPA will carry over to the community college I am attending and therefore effect my overall GPA when I apply to new schools. I have been reading up on other forums and have received mixed answers, someone please help!

Yes and no. Your previous school won’t be considered in your cc gpa; however, when you apply to other universities, you will have to send your previous transcripts, which will show the 2.57, which will weigh you down. However, if your cc gpa is an good trend, they might excuse your first year of less than stellar grades.
