Hi!
I am currently a college student hoping to transfer to USC this Fall. I am trying to take course equivalents to ECON 303 and ECON 305 (Intermediate Micro/Macroeconomics) over the summer so I can transfer the credits to USC. My school doesn’t offer these courses, I can’t seem to find an institution that offers them online or on-campus.
Does anyone know where I would be able to take these course equivalents to earn credit at USC? Thanks!!
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I could take ECON 101/102 at UCLA (lol) but the USC articulation history with UCLA doesn’t specify if ECON 101/102 at UCLA translate to ECON 303/305 at USC.
Can anyone confirm if these courses would work?
I honestly don’t know if you can transfer in credit for the 300 level econ courses, compared to the lower level ones taken as a freshman, that may be why you are having trouble finding an articulation agreement with them. I only see articulation agreements covering USC’s Econ 203 and 205. As a long shot, if you call the main number and ask to be transferred to the transfer credit office (I remember the phone listed might be cut off or something odd about it) you can ask there. Frankly, sometimes that gal is really friendly and other times not so much. I would also consider calling Marshall advising Telephone: (213) 740-0690 and ask if they ever take transfer credit for those before you spend too much time looking. They typically just deal with current students, but ya just gotta ask the question to see if they will answer it. There are some classes USC wants you to take at USC. No idea if it is these or not, but I would try to find that out first.
@CADREAMIN thanks for the quick reply! USC’s website does specify that ECON 303/305/317/414 can be transferred from accredited institutions; I’m just worried that certain course material won’t be approved by USC, so any kind of confirmation would help!
Gosh I looked through a bunch of articulation agreements too and can’t find those. I think you need to get in touch with an insider familiar with these specific courses - someone in advising in Dornsife (I think I said Marshall before) I would think - they would be more familiar with specifics to econ than general admissions advisor.
ok, I found this, so you are correct…
Department Policy Regarding Transfer Credits
Students who have taken courses equivalent to ECON 303, ECON 305 or ECON 317 from an economics department at another four-year college or from a program deemed comparable by the director of undergraduate studies, can earn transfer credits provided they received a B (3.0) or better in the courses.
Was trying to find hints of schools to look for by cruising through these links:

Gotta snooze, if you don’t find anything by Monday, call Dornsife advising - they really should be able to give you an idea of schools with courses that could work. Hope they are helpful! Once you get admitted, be sure to submit a TCR to ensure you will get credit for summer courses. Not sure how quick they turn them around, but do make sure they count!
