I am thinking about transferring to the school of foreign service from Emory and I wonder whether my sociology credit will transfer. I know it is likely to transfer if I go to the college but I am not sure about SFS... do they even have sociology as a class there? even if they dont, can it still count for something since Georgetown in general has it?

You’ll get credit for it, sure. In your major, almost certainly not. There are actually a few Georgetown sociology classes that count towards SFS majors (for example, Sociology of Terrorism counts towards the IPOL major).

^so it is not going to count towards my major but it is going to count towards the general requirements they have?

It will most likely count as an elective. The SFS core is 17 classes (18 if you count Map), sociology is not part of the core. Your major is 10 or 11 classes, if it was a specific type of Sociology in may fit into International Politics or Culture and Politics, but probably not. However you have to take 40 classes to graduate so if it is approved it will go towards that requirement.
