Transferring Credits from USA school to Canada Program?

Hi, I am currently a student at Ringling College of Art & Design, located in Sarasota, Fl in the game design program and have recently been considering maybe this isn’t the best location for me.

I’ve been trying to look online but not sure how it would go with transferring credits from my old schools. I am already a transfer to the one i am at now, it’s a good program as well but i’ve been looking at Sheridan recently for a similar major (game art to game design) for both a shorter amount of time to be left (i currently would need to do a full four years in addition to the one i have now because of studios needed at my current school and the price is a lot more than sheridan for the same major, as well as being #8 in comparison to Sheridan being #1 apparently on the list of schools for my major) I am a little worried about whether my credits will transfer over though…
I was hoping to take one more year at my current school at most, maybe even just one semester if possible and then apply to Sheridan but if possible, is there a way to talk to the school and see if credits from U.S. schools will transfer? Or the likeliness it could have that they would?
The school program here is great, and very rigorous. I would never say i did not greatly improve by coming here but based on the area and the way social things work at the school, it’s coming to a point that i think this just may not be the best match after all.
Does anyone have advice on transferring credits from U.S. schools to Canadian universities? So far, i have loved what i’ve seen about the campus and heard great things about the majors and the school in general. It is slightly bigger than my current program/school too (my class is still a good amount of people but there are only 30 in the same major for the junior year and 15 in the senior year, probably because of how rigorous it is but also because of the increase in price possibly too.)
Or any advice on how likely it would be to get in as well?
I do have decent grades and am building a new portfolio again but I do worry about both the credits transferring and likeliness to get in as well.

Ultimately if i can, this change would save a large amount of money and in addition to that, i would be able to graduate sooner (credits or not) which for me, especially being older, would matter a lot. I’ve been looking into the tests needed as well since i’m over 19 and did not graduate high school in Canada but at this point, maybe advice from others could help too?

Any advice that could be given
on travel,
on applying
on credits transferring
and generally the change in living from U.S./Philadelphia to Canada?
(I have things I could take with me, am used to living on my own but generally do not know much else about the area either…)

Also, is safety for women traveling alone in Toronto very high? Or other areas close to the school if anyone knows it? Could be moving with another girl too but we are also kind of nervous about that as well. Currently the area we are in, is not very safe…

Thank you guys for any advice you can give!
Hopefully will be able to apply and get things figured out soon so can get plans going at least!
Thanks again,
GGRT.

To add also, i am currently a sophomore at the school as well but would be needing to do an extra year because of studios and lining up a minor to add to the major/learn extra business and technology aspects that may not be able to fully get while in my current major as well…

Your question about the transfer of credits is very specific and it’s doubtful that anyone here is going to know the answer. Why not call Sheridan directly and talk to them? The first thing you need to ask is if this program even takes transfers. Admission to several of Sheridan’s programs is very competitive.

By the way, Sheridan is in Oakville not Toronto. Both are very safe for women. Crime rates in Canada are much lower than in the U.S.
