I was recently admitted to USC as a transfer student for Fall, and I was wondering what the specific pros and cons were to deferring admission to Spring. Since my admittance was so late, I have to respond back to USC within the week and there are just too many variables to consider whether or not I should actually go. My FA hasn't come in yet, USC-owned transfer housing is already full (my parents are uneasy with me living far from campus), and the deadline to register for orientation is also fast approaching, in addition to many other small concerns.

Deferring to Spring would give me plenty of time to sort out all of these concerns, but I'm worried about whether or not USC-owned housing is likely for Spring transfers, whether FA changes significantly from semester to semester, and if I'll still be able to integrate well socially going to the school mid-year. Thanks for any responses!

Me three - I got my admission notification on July 5th, and by then all the undergraduate housing was full. I still sent in an application for housing though (fingers crossed). Do you think there are people who have been assigned rooms, but don’t have roommates yet? IE could we request roommates on the housing application portal?

Options so far include:

Living in the R.W. Selby owned/USC managed apartments (super expensive, would probably need to find someone to split rent with)

Finding an apartment in someplace like Silver Lake, Eagle Rock, or Pasadena.

Deferring admission until spring and trying to see if I can apply for spring semester on-campus housing.

Since I live in Irvine, CA I could just try and make the roughly one hour long drive to downtown LA each morning, or take the train.

Any advice? Also, what are you guys considering in terms of housing?
