Transferring During Junior Year?

Hey everyone, I tried searching the college confidential forums but I could not really come across anything regarding transferring during my junior year. I am currently a second-year sophomore at a private university in California, and I was thinking about transferring out to a UC or something during my fall semester, but I didn't follow through because I finally thought I was content with my current school. And now, the transfer thoughts have been popping up again, which brings me to this question: is it worth it to transfer during your junior year? I know I will probably have to stay in school for another year, but I would be fine with that. If there any folks who had prior experience transferring out their junior year, please help a brotha out!

At this point you have missed the deadline for fall 2014 as it was November 30th. You can contact the UC or UCs you are interested and inquire about applying for a late application, and some may still consider late apps. If you don’t apply now the next chance would be fall 2015 and you run the risk of not being admitted as most UCs do not consider students in senior standing. I would contact your campus of interest ASAP.

Alright, thank you for your answer. Is it for sure that some UC’s accept late applications?

Yes

UCB - No, we will not accept late applications.
UCLA - No
UCM - Case by Case basis
UCR - Yes, case by case basis
UCI - No
UCSC - Case by case basis
UCSB - Yes, case by case basis
UCSD - No
UCD - To apply for admission after a filing period has ended or to a closed term, you must submit a written appeal.

So cconsidering it’s January I’d get on it like this minute, unless you have a very very compelling reason with proof (Military and out of US, hospitalization, diagnosed with terrible disease like cancer, or anything like that) I wouldn’t waste your time at this point, sorry but those above are from each individual UC and their policies for the current academic year.
