Hey, I was wondering if anyone has any insight on this. i got a GT to Cornell ILR and am pretty excited. Because I got this, i can pretty much go anywhere next year and maintain the stuff I need to then transfer in. Do Graduate schools, when reviewing applications care if you transfer from school to school? In other words, do they regard students who, say, attended Cornell for 4 years as a more viable candidate than someone who transferred in and attended for 3 years?

No. As long as you've maintained a high GPA it doesn't matter. Keep in mind that all though your GPA starts from 0 once you have transferred to your new institution (at least in most schools), grad schools look at your full academic record, including GPA. But they wouldn't think any less of you for transferring.

I highly doubt it. There could be a number of reasons that someone attends a state school (for example) for their first year and then transfers elsewhere. Essentially, you will graduate from a wonderful school, and I do not think that it would be an issue at all. (only my opinion)

I was wondering about this, too.

Anyone know what graduate schools think if you took some CLEP exams for some of your undergrad credit?

I was wondering about this also...thanks for the info guys

bump.......

Schools like it.

It seems like you could come off flaky if you've attended 4 schools in 4 years - I know someone who went to 6 - I don't even know how she managed to graduate. A simple transfer like you're looking at should be absolutely fine. Congrats on getting in!

keep in mind that the law school admissions committee (lsac?), and possibly other graduate school admissiosns boards, factor the gpa of your entire college career.

i think the effect would be more in terms of one's ability to be involved with solid extracurricular activities as a result of transferring

i highly doubt that if i go to like Penn from Cornell, my chances will be affected

I have a friend who transferred from a JC to Cal, and is now at Harvard for graduate.

I’m concerned about this as well because I am about to transfer to UNC Chapel Hill. It would be my third university in 4 years : /
