Transferring Fall '07

Hi everyone! Unfortunately, Cornell didn't go to the waitlist this year at CAS, so my dream of attending this year has been effectively crushed. However, I would still like the transfer to Cornell next year.
I was just wondering where it would be easier to try and transfer from.
My top 2 choices are McGill and the University of Michigan. (I was accepted off the waitlist at UMich and the deposit isn't due for a while)
Both are respected institutions but will the fact that McGill is in Canada have anything to do with how they view the transfer application? Also, I have heard that transferring as a sophomore places a stronger emphasis on your high school record. Is this true?

Thanks for your opinions.

ADMITS: Congrats on being accepted! Have fun next year :)

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get in, but sounds like you have a plan firmly in hand. I don't think that you can go wrong at either Michigan or McGill. Both are excellent schools. Congratulations on your admission to both!

You mentioned something about transferring as a sophomore placing a stronger emphasis on your high school record. While I'm sure Cornell will look at your high school record, SATs, etc., they will certainly take a long, hard look at your freshman year grades.

cornell CAS this year, was ridicuously hard to get into....good luck
