Transferring Financial Aid while being academically dismissed.

I’m not sure if this is the right forum to post this or not, I’m new!

I was academically dismissed from my California cc. I know, VERY bad. I took a semester off, did some soul searching and pretty much fixed myself. I came back this semester strong and ended with a 3.8 GPA with 3/4 classes transferable. The thing is, I achieved this at a different cc than the one I was dismissed from (can’t go back there until Fall 2016). While I was at the old cc, I received financial aid and the bog waiver. It was obviously disqualified so I’ve been paying out of pocket this semester. I know I will have to reapply for financial aid for the new college, but will the old colleges grades affect my chances? Will I have to wait until my dismissal time is over and bring my gpa at the old cc back up or can I receive aid at the new cc with my improved grades? And I do know eventually I will have to go back to that cc and fix it all in order to transfer. Sorry if this is all over the place.

You need to meet with the financial aid office, and find out how long it is going to take before your overall GPA is good enough to qualify for federal and state aid.

You need to meet with an academic advisor to find out whether you can do grade renewal at your current CC or if you need to return to the old one to retake those specific classes.

All classes must be merged to complete your overall GPA. Unfortunately, you can’t leave a bad record or your mistakes at one campus and begin at another - it’s considered fraud and taken very seriously by the state. This means you cannot and should not collect until you have merged your transcripts. You’ll have to decide which campus to stay at and file to have your classes transferred over to complete your overall GPA before you can collect financial aid. Try retaking those classes to replace poor grades to increase your GPA.
