Transferring for better financial aid

If I am within the Top Ten of my freshmen class at my respective university (John Carroll) and I transfer to a different school, would I be able to get close to a full ride at a smaller University? My GPA would be a 3.9 or better.

In the title you refer to FA, this usually means need based FA, while in the text you ask about a ‘full ride’ which typically refers to a merit scholarship. Which are you interested in?

There are substantially fewer merit awards for transfers compared to fr admits, and they are rarely for full tuition/full tuition, R&B. See the Resources sticky thread on the Transfer Students forum for a link to some merit scholarships for transfers.

Need based FA depends on the college, some give the same FA to transfers that they do to entering fr, others have less FA available for transfers. You need to go to the college websites and read their transfer FA policies or call/email the schools if they don’t give the information on their website.
