Transferring for BFA Acting

I'm not sure if the school I'm attending is right for me. I just finished my first year as a BFA Acting major at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and the training is great, but everything else about the school feels wrong. I'm also beginning to consider taking a second major (for greater job stability in the long run), but being a double major would be a real feat for me in their BFA program, and the school itself doesn't have a lot of other strong areas of education that I'm interested in.

I know a lot of schools don't work with BFA transfers, but do you guys know of any that might be flexible with the whole "start over as a freshman" policy? I'm also considering becoming a BA in Acting/Theatre/Musical Theatre to handle a double major better, what are some notable BA programs out there? Naturally I'm looking for top schools for theatre.

Thank you, I'm frighteningly lost right now.

Go to the main page where all of the forums are listed, and scroll down to find the College Majors section. Then read through the threads in the Theatre/Drama major forum there. You will find many recommendations for good BA programs that will leave you enough time to complete a second major.

You are smart to look at places where you can double-major. You need a back-up career plan in case the theatre thing doesn’t work out.
