Transferring for Dummies

im unsure how this process works in termss of what they look for besides GPA. I may be attending UNC-CH, and also hold offers from some universities in the united kingdom ( still waiting to see if i meet conditions). if i attend unc-ch, i al looking to transfer to UVA, NYU, harvard, D - mouth, princeton, Yale and U of chicago…basically, i need help understanding what i should focus on.

at this point, i'm pretty sure you know what colleges are looking for. a high gpa (not neccessarily a 4.0), great essays, SAT's, and great reccomendations. SAT's are still important but not quite as much as for freshman. and what's wrong with UNC-CH? when applying to the ivy's and the other colleges, make sure you sound really passionate about your major and whatever it is that draws you to those schools and why you want to transfer. but, maybe you should give UNC a chance?

while unc is a great school, i wasn't really into it. i will give it a shot, but im very bitter ovet the rejections from the ivy league that i recieved. not only that, but i rlly excel at an enviroment like harvard where its very competative, and theres little time for other things ( eg partying, girls, etc) that gets me off track and has hurt me in high school.

From my own experience, I'd say that ECs and recommendations are really important. For the places you've listed, I think that a lot of applicants have high gpas so ECs and great recommendations will really help you stand out.

BTW I don't think Princeton accepts transfers.

yea, princeton doesn't accept transfers.

oh i seee. so P-ton out of the Question i guess.
