Transferring for NEXT Spring.

Okay, so I am a freshman at Ursinus College, a small liberal arts school about 30 miles northwest of Philadelphia. I got a 3.6 GPA for the first semester, am on the cross country and track teams (DIII school), wrote for the newspaper/did some broadcasting for sporting events and am pretty pleased with myself academically. However, I don't know if this place is for me. It has less than 2,000 kids (I feel as if I want to go bigger), there isn't much to do (too far from the city for walking distance), and I don't feel like I fit in with the people. It seems like it's too late to transfer for the Fall semester of next year, because I put too much confidence in the second semester being better than the first, but I was wrong. Is it normal to transfer in the spring of sophomore year given these circumstances?

Also, I am looking for a school with a good Communications school around Philadelphia. I don't want to go to Temple because of the neighborhood. I wouldn't mind going to George Washington University, or St. Joseph's, but I don't know. Any comments or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The neighborhood is fine, Mr. Pane, but I'm not surprised by the typical Radnor mindset. There are plenty of us Main Liners here at Temple, and guess what, we're still alive.

So you'd go to SJU, but not Temple? Yeah, THAT makes sense...

I would love to know who you are my friend. The funny thing is, I would like to go to Temple...I've just heard stories that don't exactly make me jump at the idea.

I'm a professional stalker from the Main Line, who went to your rival high school.

Well, as confused and weirded out as I am, this is getting off-topic. I'm stuck with my decision, and it's probably too late to transfer anywhere anyway for Fall of 09, so I am just trying to get ideas, and I figured a forum might help.

If you'd like me to tell you about Temple, and possibly dispel the misconceptions you have, I'd be glad to send you a message on Facebook.

I would appreciate that.

St Joe's is in a much, MUCH better neighborhood than Temple. Anyone from around the area will tell you the same thing. St Joe's is a stone's throw away from the suburbs, and is in a much more pleasant area than Temple

Um I live like 5 minutes from SJU, and the border with Bala Cynwyd is not exactly Villanova. The only difference is that it's not in North Philly, but otherwise, it's not a very desirable place at all.

Turn right on city line ave from St Joe's and you're a few minutes from Bala Cynwyd, and turn left and you're even closer to Delaware County, the very nice part of delaware county (havertown, broomall)

Havertown is not 'very nice'. And big deal anyway...Who would want to spend their college years going to Bala Cynwyd, Havertown, Broomall, etc?

my g/f goes to st joes.......the location is great, i go down there alot.....they have a really nice campus...BUT....its a very small school, and if you want a bigger school with connections within communications I would deff suggest looking at Temple......and it is not too late to apply to either school, temple's fall application deadline is JUNE 1 lol and st joes is rolling basis beginning in Februrary (now)...their website for transfer is http://www.sju.edu/admissions/transfer/nextsteps.html.............I am most likely going to temple next semester, if yoiu stay on campus...it seems like its fine...otherwise ive heard many stories...
