Transferring for Spring

Anyone have advice for transferring in the spring? I've been told by admissions people that fewer than five people are expected in transfer in January (!!!) and now I realize that I have to figure out how to work a totally different system to register for classes and probably need suck it up when it comes to getting a dorm room. Not to mention getting new friends halfway through the year and finding some extracurricular activities. Seems like such a pain to uproot myself from my current environment -- is there anyone out there willing to tell me of their experience of being one of the few transfers coming in halfway through a school year?

Also, I'm not completely set that I'm going...leaning on it....

it depends on where you’re going, but i transferred into cornell in the spring and it was totally fine. making friends wasn’t a problem. i made a lot during orientation, but i also became friends with almost everyone in my hall once i moved in. classes might be different, but they’re just classes. research the course offerings before you get there. most schools will have ECs and upcoming events posted all over the place, so i think you’ll be okay there.

always remember why you are transferring and that at some point, you really wanted to be there
