Transferring/ Fordham's Core

The core requirements at my current school are not quite as intense as the core at Fordham, and I am worried that despite my applying as a junior transfer, it would be difficult for me to catch up with the core. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does Fordham stick by their core even for transfers?

Not sure how many credits you're transferring but I know from friend's and from going to the admissions office that Fordham will accept a max of 60 credits. Any classes from your school that resemble the ones in the core here can be carried over and replace the requirement here. I think the exception in most cases will be Theology. Good luck getting that waived. Make sure to keep your syllabus for your classes. In some cases, Fordham will take the credit as electives only which mean you have to take the class anyways (but you get the advantage of registering early depending the amount of credits you have, plus you have the elective requirement(s) filled). I had a Contemporary Moral Issues class which transferred over as an elective initially. And I spoke to the head of the Philosophy department, showed him my syllabus and I was waived from the Philosophical Ethics requirement. I had to talk to my dean as well. So keep that in mind sometimes. If you feel the class is the exact same thing you'd have to take here and it got only transferred as an elective, you can talk to the head of the department (which ever the class falls in) to change the class from an elective to a core requirement class that you already took.

Good luck.
