Okay so I am a freshman and have just started school for the Fall semester of 2011. I've always wanted to have a career that had to deal with computers. So the school that i accepted at i decided to major in Computer Science but i really didn't know what if that makes any sense. Well now that it is the 3rd week of school I have researched quite a bit and found that I am interested in Information Studies and/or Management Information Systems. Well I looked at my major list for school and under the Computer science major it just has computer science. Im not sure if this is different than Information Studies and/or Management Information or the same, but then i also researched some schools and they have separate majors for those 3 categories. Im not comfortable with my school just having this computer science major when now i know what i really wanna major in. So my question is that are these the same? Do I need to transfer and how would that process work? Can someone please help me! Please! Im so confused and I don't know what to do. If I need to transfer I wanna transfer for spring semester!

To answer your question, I’d suggest:

Talking to the CS people at your school and see what they say, perhaps within CS you can concentrate in IS/MI.

Look at the coursework IS/MI majors at other schools and compare them to the CS major at your school.

Post on (probably) the Engineering major forum here on CC, folks there may be able to help you understand the differences/similarities.
