Hello,
I’m currently a Junior at Michigan State majoring in Economics. I currently have a 3.0 gpa. I would love to transfer to a 4-year institution like UNC, College of William & Mary, or the Georgia Institute of Technology but I fear my GPA is too low, especially when compared to applicants from community colleges with 3.5+ GPAs. My question is, would it be advantageous if I were to enroll in a community college and use that GPA to transfer to a new institution?
They look at both schools and all transcripts. Also I am pretty sure neither of these schools take senior transfers. You can’t wind the clock back. Finish at Michigan State it’s an awesome school. Up your gpa the last year or so. do well on a grad exam of your choice and go to unc for a masters if you like.
@Airrick23 why are you so desperate to transfer from MSU as a junior? Just curious.
You are not allowed to hide your transcripts from previous schools.
The colleges and universities use a clearing house to check your information. Report and submit ALL transcripts because they do find out and they will expel you. When you sign a college admission form, you sign online that your information is truthful, complete and correct. If you try to hide your schools you are contradicting your signature.
Plus, if you are a junior now, most schools wont accept senior transfers. What would you have left to take?
Why would you want to transfer away from Michigan State? Especially as a junior? Michigan State is an excellent university, and by transferring after your third year you are almost guaranteeing that it’ll take you more than 4 years to finish your degree.
Why would even want to enroll in a community college? If you are a junior at MSU, it’s likely that you have finished most of not all of the general education requirements you would take at a community college.
