transferring from a 4 year to a UC?

Wish I found this site a little earlier but better late than never. So I had a couple of questions about transferring (I know I probably should ask my current schools admission counselor but I feel like they're going to be a bit biased since school just started and that I want to leave already but I know I'm going to have to talk to them sooner or later)

So currently I am attending a 4 year university (Azusa Pacific University) as a freshmen and my major was to be a nurse but I honestly feel like this is not the school for me. Both academic/social wise I cannot stand it and I feel like I can do much better if I had gone to a UC system. My question(s) are my current school runs on a semester system while the UC systems run on a quarter system so would I still be eligible? And also because my classes were specifically geared towards nursing (Chem lab+lecture, human anatomy lab+lec, psyc, etc) and I'm aiming for UCR or maybe even UCI, would my classes that I have taken have to be available at the UC that I want to go to for me to transfer or how does that work out? Please any feedback/information that you know about this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks againnnnn!

(Also, is there financial aid available for new transfer students?)

Unfortunately, transferring from a four year university to a UC is extremely difficult. The UCs have a mandate to give the highest priority to transfers from California Community Colleges (CCCs) and some consideration to transfers from other UCs. Transfers from four year colleges get the lowest priority. You might get a slight preference over a transfer applicant from a CSU but that is about it.

If you really want to go to a UC your best course of action is to drop out of your current college and enroll at a CCC as soon as possible and try to transfer to a UC as a junior. Some of the CSUs also have well regarded Nursing programs but judging from the thread on “UC transfer acceptances and rejections” transferring to a CSU may be harder than transferring to a UC due to the severe budget cuts CSUs have sustained forcing them to cut back drastically on the number of transfer applicants they can accept.

Go to a CC and then do TAG for UCR and UCI.
