Hello,
I’m currently a Junior at Michigan State majoring in Economics. I currently have a 3.0 gpa. I would love to transfer to a 4-year institution like UNC, College of William & Mary, or the Georgia Institute of Technology but I fear my GPA is too low, especially when compared to applicants from community colleges with 3.5+ GPAs. My question is, would it be advantageous if I were to enroll in a community college and use that GPA to transfer to a new institution?
A few comments:
–If you transfer you will have to provide transcripts from every college you attended. You cannot simply go to a CC and start over.
–You are a junior – it is likely that a CC will not have the upper level courses you need.
–Most colleges require students to stay for 2 years before they will grant a degree.
–I’d recommend you finish out at MI State since you are already a junior – try to do well and improve your GPA during your remaining time there.
