Transferring from a CC to a UC after only one year??

Is there any way you can transfer from a CC to a UC after only one year if you have enough AP credits to waive some of the classes?

Yep. Seen it done by at least 5 people that i know...

not to cal

actually yes to cal... One poster from this board said he achieved that. He got into Cal as some kind of bio major, but didn't get into UCLA. He from De Anza(sp?) CC.

He also had a 4.0 and did most or all his prereqs

I also did this. I am at Cal.

but isnt it true that no matter after how many years you transfer you still enter into cal as junior status?

How many classes will you need to get waived in order to transfer after one year?

attain 60 units by the end of spring.... Which UC are u looking at? I'd try to apply to as many as possible.

fast pace honors

I'm trying to get into UC Merced or UC Irvine.

How many units can I get waived if I passed 5 AP exams?

Depends on the classes. I'd say at least 15 semester units. Just a guess.

Here's the scores I got on my AP exams:
European History: 4
Stats: 4
World History: 4
US History: 4
Psychology: 4
Gov: 2
Econ: 3
Lit: 2
Calc AB: 1

How many semester units do you think I can waive with those scores? And would it be enough to eliminate a year of CC?

None of these are science classes, so proly 15 units...

Eliminate a year of CC? No, maybe a semester and some... But if u take more classes, u can proly get it done... C ur counselor for specifics.

somebody answer my question...

you can waive classes with a score of a 1 or 2?

forknscissors, you got rid of GEs. do some research in what GEs your CC required prior to transfer, check those off, and thats what you eliminated. Usually, GEs are taken during the summer, while core science and labs are taken during fall/spring. So you worked off a summer and a winter.

Depends on the UC, but it looks like you might have around 30 quarter units for the APs you passed. Look at any UCs AP chart, I think they are all the same value in units. Very doable if you went to summer school in 2005. Otherwise it looks like you'll need 60 quarter (40 semester units) for fall and spring. That will be a little tough.

zemookmook- Yes, you are a junior no matter how many years you have actually completed. However, if you are concerned about cutting your college experience short, you dont have to be. AP credits dont count against the unit limit unless you want them to, so Im staying here for three years. (at Cal)
