I'm going to be graduating this year and I've decided to take a semester off and start community college in the spring semester. I heard that you can only transfer to a UC in the fall semester, is this true? How would I go about transferring to a UC if I start in the spring semester?

Yes, most UCs only accept Fall transfers. You should aim to transfer to a UC when you have 60-70 semester credits completed. How many semesters it takes to complete those 60 is up to you… if you want a break, but want to transfer soon, throw in some extra units. If you’d prefer to take your time or finish a lot of pre-reqs, take an extra year. Class standing is determined by how many units you’ve completed, not by how many years you’ve spent in school.
