Transferring from a community college to the University of Utah

My apologies if this belongs in the What are my chances? section, I figured I would place this here since I am looking to transfer and most of the threads in there seemed to come from High School students who are going to be incoming Freshmen in college. If this is placed in the wrong section I would appreciate it if a moderator could move it to where it belongs.

I am looking to transfer to the University of Utah from my local community college for the Summer semester. This may be the best time to try to transfer as I have been told that very few attend during the Summer semester.

On this page: Undergraduate Transfer Students - Office of Admissions - The University of Utah

It says under Admission Standards:

"A cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher. (Students who have an associate of arts or an associate of science degree from a regionally accredited institution may be admitted with a 2.35 GPA or higher.)"

I have an AA degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. A GPA of 2.471, however classes below the college level are not factored into GPA calculation which actually raises my GPA to 2.611. When I called their Admission-Transfer office to ask a question, I also asked about how competitive it is to transfer to the University of Utah and if I would have any realistic chances of getting in with my current GPA. The attendant on the phone told me that from all of the information that I provided that I should definitely get in.

My GPA is low due to difficulties in my life that were beyond my control, however I now feel as though I have a firm grasp on my life and that I can finally excel academically.

I come to this community to ask what is your evaluation of all of this? I believe I will get in, especially after speaking to the attendant on the phone. I suppose I am just looking for further input on the subject from those who are knowledgeable about college transfers.

I thank you all for taking the time to read this and for your help and input on this subject. I wish you all a good day.

P.S.

About how long should it take to hear back? My transcript was received on March 8th.

As to also note if this make any kind of significant difference, the deadline to apply without a late fee is March 15th, the deadline to apply with a late fee is April 15th. My transcript was received on March 8th. Since they have a rolling admittance system I think I applied early enough so that it wouldn’t make to significant of a difference.

Bump

Should I repost this in the what are my chances? section? Perhaps it will see some more replies there?
