Transferring from A&M

Hey Everyone! I was wondering if someone could perhaps chance me in being admitted into UT. I am currently a freshmen at Texas A&M, and would like to transfer into the College of Liberal Arts with a double major in Government and Economics.
Texas A&M is a great place, and I have met plenty of wonderful people here, however I do not think it is the right place for me. I always dreamed of being a Longhorn, however I was subsequently CAPPED during freshmen admissions. I appreciate everyone helping me! (For College I am looking at either a 3.45 or 3.625 depending on finals)

Also I am attempting to transfer in during summer session

How come Texas A&M wasn't for you?

I don't know the details of how CAP works but the rest looks promising. I don't believe for transfers they look at anything to do with high school other than to make sure you necessary coursework, such as foreign language. When I was transferring last year, an admissions counselor told me to keep a 3.5 and I'd be in good shape for Liberal Arts. I've met people who got in with as low as a 3.3, so I think GPA wise you are in good shape. Knock yourself out on your finals and good luck!

You are in good shape, but FYI you seem to have a lot of good extra curricular activities, but you should know that in transfer admissions good ECs mean about as much as like a .01 GPA increase. Meaning they will only take into consideration your ECs if they are trying to choose between people with the same GPA.

Thanks so much for all the replies everyone! It cheers me up to know that I have a fighting chance of getting in. I have one more question, I talked to their transfer office but their answer still did not answer my question. Anyway, it says that you need 30 hours to transfer to UT. However, I am taking 16 this semester, whilst I have 15 AP credit hours that are completely transferable to UT so am I safe?

Ejovwo- Texas A&M is good, however I do not want to be here for four years. College Station to me is okay, I love Austin's environment much more. In addition UT's economics department as well as Government department is better than A&M. (Although I have to say that A&M's Alumni connection is amazing) I always wanted to go to UT ever since I moved to Texas, however I do not regret not taking up the CAP offer. Aggieland is a great place for some people, its just not for me.

Oh,thats cool. Thanks for answering my question. Good luck with everything. It seems like you have a good chance.:)

BlueBDS, glad to see you are considering UT-Austin. I agree with you 100% about the academics at UT. I really hope you get in. You will absolutely LOVE Austin!
