I am currently a freshman in Michigan Engineering (CS major) wanting to transfer to another University, likely for my junior year. I thought Michigan would be good for me in many ways (football, parties, etc.), but I have since realized those scenes are not so much for me and crave a smaller environment similar to the one that I had in high school (there are many more reasons for my desire to transfer, I am just a little low on time at the moment). The only thing is I don’t want to compromise my future in the process (i.e. I wouldn’t want to lose out on job offers just to transfer).
I have a good GPA (should be around 3.5-3.6 by the time I transfer, average is somewhere around 2.8-3.3) and did well on my ACT (34, 35 SS).
My current short list of places I’d like to transfer to are Swarthmore, MIT, UChicago and maybe Haverford. Would I be competitive to transfer to these places? What do they look for in transfer students? I would be a good athlete on any of these schools’ track/soccer teams, so how should I go about getting recruited?
Thanks for any and all advice!
