Transferring from a UC to an excellent private Liberal Arts college: Where should I begin?

Lots of transfer students are a year or few older than other students of the same class level.

Trying to transfer as a senior, or into the spring term, may reduce the school options that may be available to you compared to transferring as a junior into the fall term.

Some open minded liberal arts colleges that give good merit aid, and haven’t been mentioned previously include:
Beloit
Lawrence
College of Wooster
Macalaster
Oberlin
Cornell College
Bennington
Colorado College

Sometimes schools have space and it can be easier to transfer in, and most schools accept Spring transfers. I think you will have to complete two complete years at any of these schools, so if you don’t transfer in Spring you may be best stopping out and working till you start again in Fall.

Based on your interests, have you thought about a school that may offer both a BFA in art and a BA in English? Off the top of my head I don’t know which school do that, but it might be worth looking at, though doing a BFA could take longer than two years to finish.
