Transferring from Abroad

I'll make this short, but I'm looking for any help possible. Although I have a near 4.0 Junior/Senior year, as well as very good SAT Scores, I will have a few things on my app which I fear will hold back my chances this January. If I wanted to go to a state school, or go abroad, how long do I have to stay until it'd be safe to transfer back to an esteemed college here in America? I'm assuming I'd be able to pull off some great grades and be involved in good extracurriculars.

Do I have to spend more than one full year at this temporary school, or would it be more like two years? Additionally, would I enter as a junior or a freshman? And finally, how would this affect my law school chances?

Thanks so much for the help.

You would enter as a junior if the classes you took transferred.

Law schools would look at all four years of grades but if the first two years were at a less prestigious school and the second two years were at a more prestigious school, and you had good college grades and good LSAT scores, you would be fine.
