Transferring from BC

I’m applying to transfer out of BC – not because I don’t like the school, but because I need to be in a different location for personal reasons. However, if I don’t get into that school, I won’t transfer.

Does anyone know the process for doing so? I’m nervous about telling admins at BC that I’m trying to transfer because I assume they’ll be upset that I feel that I need to leave. Also, I might not actually transfer so it might make future years more difficult for me. I know I’ll eventually need to ask my Dean for an “evaluation” but should I postpone that for as long as possible?

Also, what do I do about housing? I won’t know if I’m accepted to the other university until after housing is set.

Thanks for any advice.

Most academics are extremely understanding about personal issues, and transferring. Make an appointment and seek out their counsel. A couple of years ago, a BC student was unhappy and wanted to transfer – she (if I recall she was a she) had a list of schools in mind, met with BC’s dean, who even helped her refine the list based on the things that she was seeking in a college.

Dunno about housing.
