Transferring from BU

WM freshman at BU looking to transfer. Got a 3.6gpa in Arts & Sciences this past semester and hoping to do at least that this next semester. 1300 on SATs (700M/600V). Not requesting fin. aid (don't know if it even matters).

Any thoughts as to chances of admission to Syracuse for Fall 2010?

Thanks.

Hello,
i don’t know much about the schools but after looking at their websites and researching a little about them I think that you are a 8.7 out of 10.

Good luck!
Can you chance me?
I dont have the link but it is:
chance a desperate International…

I think you’d have no trouble transferring into the business school or arts and science if that is what you are looking at. BU and Syracuse are as different as night and day. My D rejected BU as a possibility since it did not really have the campus-based, high spirit college experience that she was looking for. But there is nothing to do off campus - it’s not very safe to go off campus. Some of her friends who are from Boston are feeling a little claustrophobic. So make sure it is the change that you are looking for.

Is your daughter enjoying the campus life at Syracuse though? The main reason my son wants to transfer is lack of a campus feel and nothing to do on-campus (I think he means parties!).

She loves the campus life. The partying is focused on the Greek life since 30-40% of the undergrads are involved with sororities and fraternities. However, there are lots of events on campus and the sporting events are a big draw. It is exactly what she was looking for in terms of spirit and community. The schools that she was involved with did have freshman small group seminars for the first semester so that the kids felt connected. I’m not sure what they would provide for transfers. On the other hand, she only left the campus once all semester (other than to come home twice) to go to a nearby mall. They rarely go out to dinner off campus - but of course freshman don’t have cars.
