Greetings, I was unfortunately denied admission to UCI this fall and I’m currently a business admin. major over at CPP. UCI has been one of my dream schools for as long as I can remember and still dream of attending. I’ve gone to assist.org, but there wasn’t an option from CPP to UCI. To whoever is reading this, if you didn’t know already, Business admin. doesn’t participate in TAG, so community college wasn’t really the solution, even though I should have gone to CC for financial reasons. I understand that it’s extremely harder to transfer from a CSU to an UC, which is why I plan on dedicating 90% of my time on academics to get the best grades possible. I’m afraid that I might get turned down if I talk to a transfer adviser. Even though I don’t live that close to UCI, I have many friends/relatives over there and because of this, I’m a bit miserable over here at CPP alone. By no means, CPP is not a bad school, but UCI is better the option in general. Thanks for reading if you made it this far and I would really appreciate any advice regarding classes to take here at CPP to ensure I take the right credits or any tips in general, so that I can make transferring possible.
Business admin is one of the most difficult majors when applying to UCI. My understanding is that the university does not generally speaking accept by majors. But they make an exception for business admin and if you look at the acceptance rates for business admin they are really low both for freshmen and transfers. I recommend not putting all of your eggs in that basket. If you do not like CPP or cannot make it work, you might look at a variety of options for transferring. (I think transfer acceptance for business admin at UCI is below 5 percent.) Maybe others can advise for how to make yourself an attractive candidate.
Transfer acceptance rate for Business Admin in 2015 for Transfers was 3.1%. 1918 applicants and 60 accepted. I agree you need a backup plan or two.
