Transferring from CC as a working student

Greetings,

I’m interested in transferring to Northwestern for Fall 2016. I want to know if I’ll have any shot whatsoever of getting in.

So, some details… I’m 25 years old, married, and with a three year old son. I have a gap in my higher education because I chose to travel to the Philippines when I turned 18 and lived out there for two years. I came back married and started a family. I worked my way up to an analyst position at a major hospital here in Illinois. I work full-time during the night shift and attend class full-time during the day. I started at a community college this fall with a 15 credit hour load.

I am looking to major in chemical engineering at Northwestern. Back in high school, my ACT was a 24. I’m considering retaking it in December and I’m aiming for at least a 30. Unfortunately I don’t have any extracurricular activities as I’m pretty tied up with work and family. I’m sure that will be held against me.

What do you guys think? Do I have any chance at all of getting in? If so, would it be likely that I would be given the Northwestern scholarship? I make decent money but nothing spectacular. According to the estimator, I’d qualify for the aid and I’d be expected to pay only 2.5k a year out of pocket, and that’s including room and board as part of the estimate.

I’d appreciate some input.

Thank you.
