So thats about it for me. So my questions are:

How would you guys rate my chances for the colleges I have listed?
Should I retake my SAT? (Haven't taken since H.S.)
Will my EC (or lack of them, rather) hurt my chances?
Will the colleges be impressed by my 'job'?
How may I improve my chances?

A big thank you to everyone for helping me out.

Looks like you don't have any replies, so I'll try to see whta I can do for you.

A little bit about me, I attended UC Irvine and just graduated. I counseled incoming freshmen and transfers for a year regarding their chances of getting into certain majors (they were all undecided/undeclared).

From what you've posted, mostly your GPA and where you're planning on applying, I can see that you're a pretty smart person. GPA is VERY important, however, as I have told my students, it's not everything. Colleges are looking for well-rounded students--students that have an interest in a lot of different things. Have you volunteered? Were you involved in your CC? If a college admission person asked you "what makes you unique?", would your answer be truly unique?

I would like to point out that attending a CC makes you a VERY good candidate for top Universities. The job--they may be impressed, they may not. It depends if you want to use it as a focal point for your admissions essays. I don't think they ask for past jobs too much on the actual application.

I would say, if you want to add a couple "safe" schools to your list, you know, schools that you might be interested in going to if you were able to visit, then I say do it. The wider you cast your net, the more bites you'll get.

No one can really know what your chances are, except admissions people at the schools you listed. But I would say, with your grades alone, you've definitely made yourself look like the pick of the litter. Maybe join a club/volunteer if you have time... and write an awesome entrance essay. GOOD LUCK!

PS. For retaking your SAT, do so if they require it. But looks like your scores were good, and plus, SAT scores have dropped dramatically in the recent entering classes.

Trademark - I'm no authority, but I will give you my opinion based on where I've seen others transfer to on these forums.

You have an excellent GPA and a strong SAT. Your ECs are also very good and it looks like your courseload is pretty challenging. As for your schools, here are my guesses:

Harvard - ?
Stanford - ?
Cal Haas - Accept
Penn Wharton - ?
NYU Stern - Accept
Northwestern - Good chances
Chicago - Good chances
UCLA - Accept
USC - Accept
UCSD - Accept

I think your net is probably cast out enough (you've got a considerable number of schools that are very likely to accept you). You've also got several schools that I put ? by because the transfer admissions are just so selective and so different (strongly based on essays/reasons) that it's impossible to tell.

I wouldn't retake the SAT. Your scores are great. Just wondering, are you still in school right now? Your timing confuses me, since you already have all of your grades yet most people are still finishing this semester and the next before they transfer (most schools on your list are better to apply for fall semester transfer). Are you taking this semester and the spring semester off?

Harvard and Wharton-almost no chance (sorry )
Stanford, Haas-Reach (it is a reach for anybody)
Stern, UCLA, USC, UCSD - Match
Northwestern, Chicago...I have no idea. I don't know anything about these schools.

Of course this is all just my personal opinion. I actually have similiar stats to yours so I hope you have a good chance

You should check with the schools you are applying to as far as retaking the SAT. Stern for example will not accept scores received after you have taken 30 units in college. The UC's do not consider SAT scores.

I am kind of iffy on the job. It seems there are many people that are web developers or have online business'. If anything it shows initiative which is always helpful.

What year are you? Have you already taken all of these courses? Are you taking a third year at cc?

Sweetny007: I finished everything in the summer. Planning to take a year off or apply for the winter/spring. To be honest, I had no clue when I needed to submit everything for transfer so I just waited and slacked off.

Sweetny007 pretty much got it exactly right.

Make sure that you have 54 to 60 units of transferable units from MSAC and you'll have no problem at any of the UCs with your 4.0. Harvard has only taken about 10 transfers from CCs in the past 3 years--and usually that's from schools in Massachusetts--(and this stuff usually makes the local papers there when it happens). I've never heard of anyone from a California CC ever being accepted to Harvard or Wharton. They get too many great transfer applications from the regular 4-year schools like Georgetown, Duke, Rice, Swarthmore, etc. (and even from other Ivy league colleges). Some students who were turned down as freshmen keep trying getting into Harvard as transfers.

I have no idea about Stanford (does anyone else know the answer to this?).
