Transferring from CC to a major university

Hello. I am a CC student who has been hoping to receive admission into the University of Texas with a 3.7 GPA (government major). I want to go to UT at heart. However I've wondered if I will be able to handle the curriculum of a school like UT.

Do most CC transfers really make it out successfully? How much should I expect my GPA to drop?

It depends on the strength of your cc curriculum and your personal habits. I found the lower level stem classes at my state flagship less rigorous and graded easier (curve vs absolute scale) than their counterparts at the state’s top cc. The humanities classes were more labor intensive on average, but not graded harsher.

The upper level classes will be more challenging, but if you have a solid foundation, you’ll do well relative to your peers.

What school did you transfer to? How much did your GPA drop?

Transferred to University of Maryland.
My GPA dropped by 0.00.
Hope that helps!

So It was a smooth transition I take it?

And may I ask, what was your major?

Well smooth in terms of handling my new classes yes. The biggest adjustments for me were the vast walking distances between everything on campus and the large lecture format (Luckily done with those now). I have tended to befriend other transfer students more than native students, but that could also be due to my advanced age (31).
