Transferring from CC to State University

Just a general question, I'm in CC right now, and am applying to a University for Spring Semester. Does the University re-evaluate your FAFSA (or maybe a combination of FAFSA and your application Essay explaining financial situation), and allow you to qualify for Grants and/or Gift aid?

If I need to, I can post specifics, but for now, its just a general inquiry.

Thank you.

Depending on your transfer GPA, some school may also award you some merit scholarships (regardless of your financial need.)

Now I’m assuming that you put down the code of the university that you’ll transfer to when you file FAFSA.
Once you applied to the university, it will use the EFC from your FAFSA to determine your financial need (= COA - EFC - merit scholarships). Then the univ. will award you the financial aid.
Depending on your EFC, you may be qualify for Federal / State / School grants.

Okay, but just because FAFSA said I wasn’t eligible for a Pell Grant due to my EFC, doesn’t mean the school won’t offer me anything?

Depending on your need and your EFC, you maybe offer some grant from your state (if you transfer to in-state schools) and from your school (check your school’s financial aid)
If you don’t get Pell Grant due to high EFC, you may still able to get Federal Direct Loans.

Thanks for the information. I am already using loans, just trying to find out if I can get other aid.

I’ll be contacting the Financial Aid department early next week to find out.

Thanks again.
