Transferring from CC to Top Undergrad Business School

I'm looking to transfer to a top undergrad business school. I'm looking into the lucrative fields of finance... such as investment banking and moving up the hierarchy. I'm now at a community college (Santa Monica College) in Los Angeles. I got my certificate of proficiency from my high school which allowed me to graduate early, so I skipped my senior year. I have taken classes at my CC since my junior year of high school. This is my first year out of high school and I started it with about 21 units. I am 17 years old which may be a huge factor for colleges to either accept or reject me.

I have a 4.0 with 25 units so far and I am taking 12. I will have anywhere from 55-60 at the end of the spring semester. Therefore, I can be a sophomore or a junior transfer student.

As for extra-curriculars, I have over 450 hours of volunteer work at a hospital. I was looking into pre-dental but not anymore.
I now intern at UBS Financial Services Inc. This is a huge firm that will lead me into an investment banking internship. People get really surprised that I tell them that I'm 17 and that I have this position. My co-intern has a master's degree in some finance field from Cornell.

I also will have a great essay and I started a club called "Entrepreneur Exhange" at my cc.

It's difficult to find students from CC's applying to top schools. I want to go to a school in a big city that I would love. A party scene would be a plus. These are schools on my common app:

NYU (Stern), UPenn (Wharton), U Michigan (Ross), U Miami, Stanford (applying just because I am legacy), Columbia, Northwestern.

I am also applying to these schools as well: USC (backup, I live in LA), Georgetown

I don't know much about these schools. I plan on visiting NYU because I'm pretty sure I will get into Stern with a 4.0. My biggest reach is Wharton @ Upenn, and I would love to go there just as much as NYU's Stern. However, I really don't think I will get in. I want to know my chances for it, and the other schools. Keep me posted!!

I'll take any other schools you recommend. Keep in mind that investment banking is very competitive and they look for students at a certain bulge bracket of schools.

How about Emory? Atlanta nightlife isn’t too bad - nothing like NYC but definitely not bad.

Why are you applying to Columbia and Northwestern? They don’t offer undergrad business programs.

Just trying to help here.

As @AudreyH mentioned, some of the schools you’ve mentioned do not have a business program. Additionally, you do not need to major in Business to work in IB or Wall Street. The common misconception is everyone needs an undergrad degree in business to work for Wall Street.

If you do some research you’ll see many companies are starting to devalue a strictly business degree. They rather you major in something more broad such as Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science. A MBA holds a greater amount of weight than a BS in Business Administration. That’s why people go major in X, get some experience, and apply to Business school.

Bold statement. You need to remember there is nothing certain in life, especially when dealing with college admissions where 4.0s are rejected. You also don’t mention what classes you have taken/currently taking. For example NYU, USC, and UPenn all have prerequisites that need to be taken. Have you looked at those and made sure you will have completed them?

For Columbia.
Will college courses I took while in high school count toward the transfer credits you will accept?

They also state:

You do have a good thing going with the internship. Schools and companies love to see experience on your resume. Why don’t you look at UCLA or Haas?

^I totally agree with MitchAPalooza,

Don’t be so cocksure about getting into a top undergraduate B schools (Stern). I was a stockbroker for two major firm for 4 years, had a 4.0 at the time of application, and was still rejected at McIntire and Wharton…It’s competitive, even with great extracurriculars

Pretty sure OP is a ■■■■■. First of all, you should wait another year before you ask people to chance you. Additionally, your entire post reeked with elitism and magniloquence. “OH IM A STANFORD LEGACY ILL GET IN FOR SURE.” As the posters above mentioned, you don’t even know half the schools you are applying to don’t offer undergrad business. Good luck getting into Stanford Graduate School of Business for undergrad. Also your volunteer hours won’t mean anything cause high school ECs are ignored. It’s also hard for me to believe that someone who thinks so highly of themselves would be at community college.
