I am currently an undergrad at UC Berkeley (just finished up my freshman year) and want to transfer from my current major (ChemE) to BioE. I was wondering if anyone knows how difficult that transfer might be? Also if anyone who has gone through this process before could please share their experience, that would be much appreciated, thanks!
P.S. My current GPA after freshman year is 3.78.
You must meet with your ESS Adviser to review minimum requirements to change to your intended major. Those requirements include:
-Specific minimum GPA and/or course requirements that vary by major
-Completion a minimum of one semester at UC Berkeley (some majors require more than one semester completed)
-Good academic standing
-Satisfactory academic progress during your semesters of enrollment
-A planned program that includes a realistic trajectory for completing all degree requirements within the time allotted by the college
-Submission of a change of major application to your ESS Adviser before your 5th semester begins.

@Gumbymom I wish it were as simple as that, but it is not. ChemE is not in CoE at UC Berkeley. It is in CoC.
The page linked from reply #1 is for change of college, meaning for students outside the CoE who want to change into a major in the CoE. So it would apply to you.
