Transferring from CIT to SCS

Hi everyone,

I had a couple of questions about CMU:

I had applied as a Chemical Engineering Major, but now I'm thinking I might want to study Computer Science. If so, how hard is it to transfer schools?

I have heard that CMU has great graduate programs, but the professors are more focused on them. Is this true? Do they pay attention to undegraduates? Also, is it hard/very competitive to get involved in research?

I didn't apply to Tepper (Business School), but is there anyway I can still take courses there, and have a second major or minor? I am still trying to discover what I want to do.

You need to talk to an advisor and there’s 4-5 first/second-year CS courses you need to take and maintain a 3.5 QPA in. It depends on how much space there is; I’ve heard it’s fairly difficult but easier for CIT students, especially ECE.

Luis Von Ahn himself teaches 15-251… I think CMU UG CS still gets access to a ton of good professors; after all, there’s a reason it’s so successful.

Double majors exist. Just google “CMU tepper dual degree” and they’re pretty straightforward about stuff like this.

Get 2 As and a B in three courses: 15-122, 15-150, and at least one 200- level core course (15-210, 213, or 251)
